Career Slam

Participation was by invitation only and capacity was limited to allow students the opportunity to network and receive one-on-one advice from top industry executives.

High School Financial Literacy Competition
Working with the Finance Department at Ashland University's Dauch College of Business and Economics, AUSIFE successfully organized the first annual SIFE High School Financial Literacy Competition. Teams from schools around North Central Ohio were invited to the campus of Ashland University to compete in a day-long competition that involved both rapid-fire questions and a case analysis which teams presented to a panel of professional judges.

International Microfinance Fund
In January 2008, Ashland University SIFE partnered with Kiva to launch the SIFE International Microfinance Fund, which provides small loans, averaging between $150 and $500 to entrepreneurs in third world countries around the world. By providing these entrepreneurs with the capital necessary to start their own business, AUSIFE is enabling them to free themselves from poverty and support their family through free enterprise. As of May 2, 2008, Ashland University SIFE has provided loans to more than 57 women from six different countries on four continents. Morality vs. Legality

Esperanza: Project Hope
In November 2007, Ashland University SIFE launched Project Hope in conjunction with our International Microfinance Fund. In addition, we are currently working with Esperanza to create a new business basics training program based around visual aids, which will benefit thousands of Dominican and Haitian entrepreneurs who are illiterate.
